Just another day at the office…

office1

I am happily and willingly stranded in a little piece of heaven called Acapulco, that explains my 8-day absence. After a long and cruel European winter and my big move back home, my corpse-like skin (poor thing didn’t see the sun in over 8 months) desperately needed the sea and the sun. Trust me, it hasn’t been easy to have my body understand that I am no vampire and that 7 months ago I was walking the fine line between a tanned Barbie and a Jersey guido (I have developed all sorts of rashes and sun allergies that one can possibly imagine). Anyway, I will get back my normal, non “Casper the friendly ghost” skin tone while soaking up the beautiful Acapulco sun!

Oh and just so you know, I’m wearing lots of sunscreen.

It’s almost Friday, hang in there!

Sweet kisses…

LADY DOODLES, the wallpaper

lady doodles

It all began one rainy afternoon, when wanting to creatively personalize my resume… I started with one doodle, then the other and so on. I scanned them and began piling them up. I copied and pasted them like a hundred times and this was the result: a pretty and girly wallpaper I decided to name “Lady Doodles”. You likey?

Sweet kisses…

NEW BEGINNINGS

new beginnings

My sweet readers, I’m finally back! Before you start growling at me and complaining (and you are completely entitled to it after my two week absence), allow me to explain myself. After a four year and a half stay in my beloved Milano, I decided to move back to my also beloved Mexico City. After finishing my studies and pondering about my future, I made the toughest decision of my life: leave Milano and move back home. The packing process was a complete bitch (try fitting almost 5 years of your life into boxes), the complicated wave of emotions and feelings was worse than that packing process bitch but in the end, it’s all part of a plan, God’s plan and mine.

Now I am back in the mothership, ready to start new projects and the next chapter of my life. So expect the unexpected because many new things are coming!

To my beautiful Milano, you gave me so much and it’s not the last you’ll see of me. A presto, bella!

From Mexico City, sweet kisses…

PS: I have not been slacking off, I already have lined up a bunch of posts to make it up to you!

Another year, another candle’s burning…

make a wish

It’s that day of the year again, the day where I age and everyone congratulates me for it. The Peter Pan in me doesn’t like it and apparently, neither does the weather: It’s pouring outside and it’s really, really cold on what should’ve been a beautiful Spring day. But me, I have learned to love it. Hold on, I love my birthday, the aging part not so much. I know I’ll age someday and I’ll do it gracefully… with botox and fillers on my side.

This past year I have made mistakes, I have lived, I have loved and will keep on loving, I’ve had rough patches, I’ve had great days, I’ve found myself and my true calling and even though it wasn’t a stellar year, I’ve learned, I’ve learned a lot. I start this new one with a smile on my face, a glass of wine (or several bottles), an obscene pasta bowl and a big-ass slice of cake, with a blank and shiny page in the book of my life. Today I start a new chapter, a beautiful one.

So raise your glasses with me (imagine one if don’t have one) and let’s toast, to birthdays and new beginnings. To family and love. Don’t worry forehead, we won’t be toasting to botox and fillers just yet!

And to my mommy, if you are reading this, here’s to you, my rock and the one beautiful thing that has kept me afloat.

Happy birthday and sweet kisses to me!

You’re invited, bring a gift…

invitation

Remember that SATC episode called “A woman’s right to shoes”? The one where Carrie’s Manolos get stolen at a friend’s party and she refuses to pay for them? I was watching (again) that episode last night and with my b-day coming up in two days, I had one thought: brides-to-be and pregnant ladies get to register and have the presents they really want or need. What do I, an unmarried gal with no kids (and no desire for them), get? I get Christmas and one birthday a year (but they do too) and I should be able to register for the gifts I do desire. That’s why, prior to my twenty something birthday, I made my list. I know that that list will probably be ignored by my dearly beloved, especially the $1,400 Versace Gladiator boots (thanks to Lena Perminova, I dream of them every single night). So if your birthday is near, make your list and take a look at mine. You might get inspired!

gift bday

  1. Faith Connexion sweatshirt with leather inserts My love for sweatshirts just keeps on growing. Sweatshirt+mint+leather? Sign me in!
  2. Urban Decay’s NAKED palette This should be a part of every girl’s makeup bag. I still don’t have mine and I’d really like to own it now!
  3. Zara biker blazer If a biker and a blazer had a child, this would be it. Plus, it’s a great staple for those Spring windy nights.
  4. Versace caged boots Just look at them, fall in love…
  5. Victoria’s Secret TEASE perfume I don’t care about the scent, the bottle is so darn pretty that I need it on my dresser.
  6. Zara lace flats This season is all about dressy flat shoes. This are the perfect alternative when ditching heels.
  7. J. Crew Edie purse The color, the shape, the retro feel, the price… It’s perfect!
  8. Grace, A Memoir I’ve been wanting to get my hand on Grace Coddington’s memoir for so long. You can help me, it’s just one Amazon click away.
  9. Tom Ford Santal Blush scent Tom Ford beauty, need I say more?
  10. Sephora by OPI Spring collection Creamy, pretty and lovely, ideal for Spring
  11. Zara mirror heels I’m obsessed with metallic footwear this season.
  12. Eberjey pajama set My mom loves to gift pajamas, they always come in handy. This set looks comfy and pretty at the same time (I tend to do the hobo sleepwear thing, it’s not nice).
  13. Zimmermann bikini Zimmermann has to be the brand with the loveliest prints and shapes right now. Every single piece of their collections is always covetable. But this number, this number hits just too close to my style.
  14. Layout markers As an illustrator, I do need to complete my marker collection. And as a shoe junkie, I have to admit, I like markers better than shoes.
  15. Stella McCartney sunnies I’ve always been a Ray Ban Aviators girl, but changes are always good.
  16. Zara mirror sandals Minimal and perfect for the season, very Alexander Wang

What’s on your b-day list?

Sweet kisses…

SIMPLE DOODLES: Parisian chic!

POSTER

And while organizing my files, I found a never published and really, really simple doodle, sitting there, just waiting to be found. The perfect image to post on a relaxing Saturday afternoon. Hope you are having a good one!

SWEET TROUBLE: If only…

It’s the first post of the year (I know, I’m so late that I had to tuck the resolutions post away and burn it)! Lately, I’ve been more focused on random illustrations than my usual styling and trend series. After covering September’s Fashion Month, I really needed a break from terms like “color of the season”, “big trend alert”, “stellar front row”. It’s not that I don’t love the runway madness, but as you already know, in less than a month, it will all begin again (geez, time really flies by). Anyway, back to what concerns us today: our illustration.

THE MAGIC TEA SHOP

if only

Imagine if just a sip of tea could make it all go away.

Imagine if a cup of Chamomile had the power to make it all better.

Instant hangover relief? Sip some of this.

Heartbreak helper? Sip some of that.

Need to fit inside that dress…ASAP? Take this.

Find true love? Take that.

Need a self-esteem boost? Drink this.

More boobs, lashes or butt? Drink that (with caution)

If only such a shop existed.

If only…

Carrie Moments

carrie moments

This is what happens when you have been watching too many Sex & the City re-runs. I can’t even recall how many times I’ve seen each season and each episode, but I never seem to get tired of them. As many of you I’m sure, I could act out the entire series without needing a script. That’s why I wanted to pay a little homage to one of the most important milestones in the history of fashion, the fabulous and always ahead of her time, Carrie Bradshaw. During the six years it was on, SATC had a lot, and when I say a lot I mean a ton of memorable fashion moments: the tutu, the naked dress, the candy striper attire, the flapper number for the book party, the sequin cover-up and the list goes on. I could draw them all (maybe I will, but it’ll take a while), but for now I took the three that I loved the most and drew them on myself). Enjoy!

satclaSEX AND THE CITY

When the opening credits appeared on our screens for the first time, little did we know that this show would be life-changing, liberating and definitely addictive. The cream tutu and with the pink tank top is probably the most iconic attire from the whole series (even more than the Vivienne Westwood wedding dress in the first film). To think that Pat Field fished it out of a bargain bin…

ANCHORS AWAY

Remember the sailor episode? This lively outfit was featured on the first scene, when Carrie goes to the Guggenheim, solo, because she is dating the city. There was something about this look that immediately caught my eye and stayed in my mind forever. The colors, the cropped jacket, the foulard-like jumper and the twist: the two-tone pumps. That’s the thing about Patricia Field, she has a talent for mixing, matching and mis-matching.

AMERICAN GIRL IN PARIS

I think I can safely say that in the two final episodes, there was not one Carrie ensemble that didn’t make me swoon. From the Hello Paris outfit to the thousand layer dress, it was a lovely display of gallic fashion. But there was one outfit in particular that took the prize, the ladybug dress with the dramatic coat and the unexpected white pumps. One day, I’ll wear something like that in Paris, I’ll even step gladly on dog poo if that’s what it takes…

This is a different post from everything that I’ve been doing so far. Let me  know if you enjoyed it! It would be a pleasure to put together more of this for you.

Have a lovely week and remember, X’mas is just around the corner!

Sweet kisses…

MÉXICO LINDO Y QUERIDO

Good Morning from my gorgeous Mexico City! After almost 20 hours (airplane, stops, gates), I’m finally home with my family. My Summer just began and I couldn’t be happier, not only because for two months I won’t have to make my bed, do my laundry or wash one dish, but also because let’s face it, Mexico is the most, wait for it… awesome country in the world (yes, I’ve been watching How I met your Mother re-runs). In three days I will be heading out to my little piece of heaven called Acapulco (my skin is in serious roasting need) and then, wait for it… NYC, the second most awesome city in the world (hey, I’m a proud Mexican). Let the July games begin!

Desde México, sweet kisses…
