No panic, I’m here and I come bearing gifts! Good Monday, my sweet, sweet readers. After going AWOL for the weekend, I am back with the first outfit post from our lovely peplum series. No one can get enough of this trend, we all love it so much that even for next fall we will be seeing a lot of it  (if you are like me, a sucker for the ladylike style, join me in a celebratory dance). Today I’m going to address the skirt. The skirt with a peplum has to be the cutest, prettiest garment ever made by the man, or the sewing machine. Playing with this trend is what makes it more fun, you don’t need to go all girly, you can dress it down, glam it up or even rock it out! Let’s start with a selection of pretty, pretty skirts you can find online.

TOP: Topshop / Dorothy Perkins / Lipsy

MIDDLE: Preen / Chloe / Topshop

BOTTOM: Lipsy / Dorothy Perkins / House of Fraser

I love to dress up, I love to dress up in soft colors and I love to mix things up a bit with bold accessories and unexpected colors. For this look, I added a touch of green to make the look more interesting, and silver, lots of it!

  • Shore nail polish, ESSIE

What do you think of today’s look? Are you gonna try it out? Is a peplum skirt living inside your closet already? I sure hope so!

Wishing you a fabulous week, sweet kisses…

Well, hello my sweet readers! Me posting about this trend was absolutely inevitable. It’s been a while since polka dots and I began our love affair (I have a ridiculously large collection of high-waisted shorts with spots and trust me, it wasn’t on purpose). Spotted is often synonym of girly, unless you go all Dalmatian on me, then it’s Cruella de Vil all over. The reason why I love this trend is because it always has a certain retro feeling to it. It’s also always flirty and on the sexy Lolita side. This fall retailers are carrying all kinds of polka: soft colored, leather, burgundy, chiffon, you can even find it on coats. That is why, over the next couple of days I will be presenting to you six looks, all of them trendy and of course, all of them spotted.

  • Shiny schoolgirl, Yves Saint Laurent PFW F/W 2011
  • Remarkably retro, Marc Jacobs FWNY F/W 2011
  • Sexy and sheer, Stella McCartney PFW F/W 2011
  • City chic, Diane von Furstenberg FWNY F/W 2011

Are you excited? Now you have a reason to come back and check us out! Six polka looks await you!

Sweet kisses and spot on!

CFDA Awards 2011, the memorable, the forgettable and well…. GAGA

Every year in New York City, one of fashion’s four capitals, the Council of Fashion Designers of America hosts their annual award ceremony. Held at the Lincoln Center, the most oustanding designers are nominated previously and the winner is announced on the day of the gala. To us fashion people, this ceremony is the Oscars of fashion, as many like to call it. We not only get to see famous people strut the carpet, but instead of a movie, we can see our favorite designers recieve their awards.

The winners:

  • Designer of the year: Proenza Schouler
  • Accessories designer of the year: Alexander Wang
  • Menswear designer: Michael Bastian
  • Swarovski Womenswear: Prabal Gurung
  • Swarovski Menswear: Robert Geller
  • Swarovski Accessories: Eddie Borgo
  • International Award: Phoebe Philo, Celine
  • Fashion Icon: Lady Gaga
Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award: Marc Jacobs
This ladies are used to stealing the spotlight with their beauties (if not ask the thousands of men that wait for that time of the year, when the VS angels put their wings on for the infamous fashion show). But this time, not only their looks stole the show, but also their goregous outfits. Three of my best dressed gals include Miranda Kerr, head-to -toe in a Michael Kors number, fresh from his Resort 2012 collection. Funny how Mr. Kors was insipred by an Australian holiday for this collection, and Miranda is an aussie herself. The we have Alessandra Ambrosio, the brazilian amazon sported a red and very dramatic gown from genius designer, Prabal Gurung. And then, beacuse you can never go wrong with Marchesa, Hana soukupova, a vision in ivory.
There were some less fortunate celebs, who definitely (and in my personal opinion) were not able to nail the look. First Emmanuelle Chriqui in a yellow cocktail dress, WITH A TAIL! And with those jewel sandals and that clutch, I don’t know if she look like the guest of a tacky wedding or a drug lord’s date. Joy Bryant and Rachel Roy, talk about bad pairing. The dresses alone are bad, but standing together it makes things even worse. One looks like she just got out of a Motel 6 and the other one shortened her quinceañera dress only to sport those killer legs in some shoes that don’t even make sense with the whole outfit. And then we have Kelly Bensimon. I’m gonna let the peeking underweartalk fo itself.
To DVF, for always looking so damn hot. To the Olsen twins, a match made in heaven, fashion heaven. To Gerard Butler, the hottie of the evening and to Georgina Chapman, for being her fabulous self.
I don’t consider myself a fan.But this time I have to admit that the Lady deserved the award. She looked regal in her black gothic gown. She pulled off the green hair and the dramatic makeup. Everything about her was perfect, everything was so Gaga. And then she had to go and do this… That I do not approve.
Check back tomorrow for a big, big post I have been working on.
Sweet kisses…
