SUMMER GETAWAYS 2012: The Free Spirit (evening)

Good Monday, my sweet readers! As I am getting ready for my last vacation destination (Acapulco Bay, I’m coming), I’m giving you the fourth post from our Summer Getaways 2012 series, Evening round. I’m gonna make this quick since I have a plane to catch! I’ve told you before about our lovely Free Spirit, Flora. She’s one who loves to chill, who loves exploring unknown destinations, who loves having a good time by the beach, with some friends and some beer. So, if you are the kind of girl who enjoys bonfire nights, if small bars with a twist are your scene, if you are heading out to an unknown paradise and need the perfect dinner ensemble, here’s what I’m offering you:

  • Kimonos have been on the trend spotlight for a while now. The more prints they have, the better they look. And if you dig that boho vibe, it’s a must inside your closet.
  • For bohemian destinations, white, crisp dresses work to perfection. Choose them in different materials: linen, crochet, silk (possibilities are endless)
  • Multi-strapping is a must for the shoes. Braided heels, wedges or flats, I can guarantee you’ll wear them out.
  • Shoulder mini bags are a girl’s best friend when it comes to going out. Rebecca Minkoff has quality and a good price.
  • Go crazy with some earthy arm candy.

SUMMER GETAWAYS 2012: The Hopeless Romantic (evening)

And so the end is near, we are entering the Evening round on our Summer Getaways series and 5 posts away from wrapping it all up. To kick this round off, the Hopeless Romantic. As I told you before, this Sweet’n'Raw character is completely inspired by me, my style and my likes (just take a look at today’s outfit). So if you are packing your suitcase for one last Summer escape and you are heading out to the land of wine and romance, if you need the perfect ensemble for a candelit dinner followed by drinks with a view, if Napa Valley is that final destination, if a midnight stroll in Paris is what you’ll be doing in the next few days, then this look is just for you!

  • Pulling off a monochromatic look with a detailed top is more fun and the result is even prettier.
  • Nothing says romance more than a lady in blush
  • Belts are a girl’s best friend when it comes to enhancing the waist
  • Add a touch of color with the shoes. Teal and blush are a match made in heaven
  • Add more sparkle with statement bracelets (just the right amount to make everything fall into place)
  • Dark, berry nails will give the whole ensemble a dramatic twist

SUMMER GETAWAYS 2012: The Hopeless Romantic (daywear)

Another day, another post, my sweet readers! Summer is halfway through and so is our Daywear round: two more to go and then we are off to evening wear. This is definitely one of my all-time favorite looks, after all, the Sophie character is all about me. The hopeless romantic is definitely a girl who enjoys late night strolls after a candlelit dinner and a bottle of wine (yeah, it may sound like a cliche, but it’s the best cliche ever). The Hopeless Romantic loves small town destinations, lovely views, quiet resorts in the middle of the country and Paris, Paris is always good for romance (if you can escape those tourist traps, and you totally can). So if you are planning a Summer getaways filled with love, books, wine, breathtaking sights and relaxation, this is the perfect outfit if you want to wander around town and get lost in it, followed by a lovely lunch in a terrace and of course, some wine (yeah, wine is really my thing). Let’s start with today’s ensemble:

  • Chiffon blouses are cute, dressy, flattering and light. Also, a girl in floral print will always get some heads turning. Pack a bunch of blouses and shirts, you’ll thank me later.
  • Ivory on Ivory is definitely a winning combo (I’m really into the matchy, matchy trend right now). The flowers just add that cute factor that screams romance.
  • To clash with the flowers, striped sandals are the way to go.
  • For more contrast, polka dots will do the trick
  • If the sun is really hitting hard, you can add a cute, straw hat
  • If you are gonna walk long distances, pack your flats or switch to wedges
  • Last but not least, put together a killer and eclectic arm candy and top it off with a floral ring.

SUMMER GETAWAYS 2012: The Party Princess (daywear)

Good Monday my sweet, sweet readers! As promised, I am here with a new Summer Getaways post (ok, one that I put together two weeks ago but couldn’t upload it) and we are picking up right where we left off. The swimwear round is done and now it’s daywear time. So if you are taking an August Summer holiday and need a couple outfit ideas, you are going to want to be checking back with us in the next few days. Remember Jaime, our very own party princess? So if you are packing to go to a party central destination, if Vegas or Miami is in your plans, you are definitely gonna need a killer ensemble to wander around this fun cities during the day.

  • You need to look casual and effortless, but with a cool edge. You never know when the party is gonna start.
  • Sequin shorts and bright, simple cami tops, make perfect pairings. You will be toning down the “evening” vibe of the shorts and still get some heads turning your way.
  • Since the shorts we chose had an ethnic detail, ankle booties with fringes make a great match
  • Look for a shoulder bag or a satchel with a detail to make the outfit even more interesting
  • For the nails, candy colors complement the whole thing. It’s the cute factor

SUMMER GETAWAYS 2012: The Hopeless Romantic (beachwear)

It’s Tuesday and I’m just five days away from leaving rainy Mexico City for a sunny New York one. We are almost done with our Summer Getaways, beachwear round. And today it’s my turn, the Hopeless Romantic. Girls like Sophie (that’s me, by the way) usually love quiet and visually stunning destinations. We like to pack the same amount of books as we do clothes.  There’s nothing we enjoy more than a Tuscan villa with a pool (surrounded by Lavender, of course). Oh well, there is something we enjoy more, a bottle of wine under the Provence sky. So if your Summer vacation is all about romantic strolls and discovering Parisian hidden gems, if you are up for some major views and some major wine tasting, if you are ready to take all that French Country in, then you’ll need a pool (or beach, if there is one) ensemble worthy of a romantic escape.

The Hopeless Romantic doesn’t compete with the view, she likes to be a part of it. That is why we love all things floral and all things cute. The color palette I used (soft pink, teal, ivory and lilac) will make you look like the ultimate Tuscan garden goddess.

  • Balconette bikini tops always have that air of romance and old school glamour, great for this type of destination.
  • A floral kimono is the ultimate cover-up for a day at the pool and garden.
  • Go for a pair of tan, leather strap sandals
  • Leather shoppers are the perfect companions on a trip, you can take them with you all day: to the beach, to the pool, to lunch, to run errands…
  • For the nails, go with bright but cute colors (pink, teal, lilac, peach, coral)

Rise & shine, my sweet readers! Monday, Monday, bloody Monday. A new week is just starting and we are halfway through with our Summer Getaways, beachwear round. Today I have for you the perfect beach outfit for the Free Spirit. So if you are the kind of gal who is all about relaxing on a deserted beach, if you enjoy spiritual cities and vacations are a synonym of finding peace and balance, then this ensemble is just the thing you need. NAIL FILES: Somewhere over the rainbow…

It’s Sunday and after a long week of work and a weekend full of party, all we really need is a couch, a movie and our comfiest pair of PJs . That is why today, no dressing up, no look of the day and no Summer 2012 trends. As you already know (if you don’t, click HERE), every month I publish a themed nail polish selection, depending on the season, the month and my mood. Wear me out and dress me up: CROCHET SHORTS

Finally Friday, my sweet readers! It’s really hot out there, Summer has arrived and it definitely shows. What are your plans today? Are you gonna go out for some drinks with the girls? Dinner date with the boyfriend? Housewarming party at your best friends home? How about wearing some crochet shorts tonight? I have for you the third and last part form the WEAR ME OUT: CROCHET SHORTS series. And since it’s Friday and we usually wear of best clothes for the evening, I dressed up some burgundy crochet shorts. To dress up this pair of beauties, you can add a blazer, a cropped jacket, a silk blouse and some fabulous, sky-high heels. I went for a textured ensemble, but first, the crochet shorts selection.

Sweet’n'Raw’s Sweet Dreams: THE SHORTS

Good morning my sweet readers! Wednesday, Wednesday… Only two days left for the weekend to begin. Today I’m bringing you the third post from our Pajama trend series (clicke HERE and HERE if you haven’t read the first two). This trend may seem comfy and casual at first sight, but like all things fashion, we can dress it up and down anyway we want. Pajama shorts are the perfect season companions, you just have to look for a silky or chiffon pair. The ones with drawstrings work well, just look for soft structured ones. Here’s a selection you can find online. Whether you are a flower girl, a minimal one or a graphic print junkie, there’s a perfect pair for you out there.

A little cute goes the long way with this one. This Thakoon Addition shorts are perfect for Summer, light, cheery and pretty. To dress them up a bit more, I added a blouse with a bow detail and some fabulous pumps to elongate the legs. If you want to go flat, chose a pair of Oxfords to add some contrast. For the bag, a girl can only dream about vintage $4,000 Chanel, right? But any beige, quilted shoulder bag will do!
