BIKINI SEASON 2013: The Garden Goddess

It’s July already, my sweet readers! Time sure flies by, so quickly I didn’t even see it coming. Today I have the 6th part of our Bikini Season 2013 special. And hoping you already have booked your little (or big) Summer getaway, I have a style that is a favorite of mine and will always be. Flowers are a basic when it comes to swimwear, but lately, the prints and patters have become so elaborate, so beautiful and so different from what we are used to seeing. Zimmermann, my favorite swimwear brand in the entire world, has a selection with a retro feel to it, the kind of flowers you could find on a vintage botanical print. We can also find florals so lively that you can almost smell them, those are perfect for the whole garden, picnic, day outside kind of look. I have put together our usual chart, this time it’s all about the garden trend. Are you ready for it?

Gingham: Nothing says picnic like gingham And while someone may make the stupid “did you borrow from an Olive Garden table?” joke, a gingham top, sundress or bikini are as cute as cute can get.

  • Lauren Dolige
  • NewLook
  • Topshop
  • Zimmermann

Vintage rose: I’m a sucker for floral prints, the kind of prints that are as real as a flower can get. Dolce & Gabbana has been doing them for so long, and when it comes to swimwear, Zimmermann is definitely the way to go.

  • Zimmermann
  • Ted Baker
  • Zimmermann
  • Zimmermann

Micro florals: The smaller the print, the cuter it looks. Think Band of Outsiders, think a less tacky version of Sookie Stackhouse tanning in the backyard.

  • New Look
  • Zimmermann
  • J.Crew
  • J.Crew

Fresh Greens: We are talking about the garden style, right? That’s why solid green bikinis are a must, you can mix and match them with a vintage floral print top or a wear the whole green thing with a flowery kaftan or silk robe.

  • J.Crew
  • Dolce & Gabbana
  • H&M
  • J.Crew

garden sel

Last but not least, the garment and accessory selection to complete The Garden Goddess style:

  1. Cropped top, Topshop
  2. Green sandals, ASOS
  3. Short-sleeve top, Dolce & Gabbana
  4. Floral bikini, Zimmermann
  5. Woven wedges, Dolce & Gabbana
  6. Vert, vert scent, Balmain
  7. Embroidered dress, Pull & Bear
  8. Texture shorts, Roxy
  9. Floral sunnies, ASOS
  10. Bucket bag, Ermanno Scervino
  11. Naughty Nautical nail polish, Essie
  12. Bikini top, H&M
  13. Bikini bottom, Ted Baker

Are you ready to pack your bags and leave this city? Are you ready for some sand and sun? I can’t wait to get out of here, I’ve got a tan to care of!

Sweet kisses…

FASHION WEEK copyIt’s that time of the year again, almost! We are a week away from NYFW’s kick-off and the beginning of the always exciting Fashion month. Right now, NYC is as cold as cold can get (well, not if you compare it with Eastern Europe), here’s hoping that when it’s Milan’s turn, the weather has softened at least a bit. It’s time for the Autumn/Winter collections to hit the runways and while I am more of a Spring girl (I’ve told you that a million times), when it comes to Fashion Week, I’m a sucker for everything! It’s a goal of mine to make the Fashion Month tour, but it’ll have to wait for at least another season to make that happen (here’s hopin’). In the meantime, I will have to settle with covering the whole thing via internet for you. Here are some things you need to know about this FW edition:

  • There will be no Alexander McQueen runway show, due to Sarah Burton’s pregnancy. There will be a small presentation for a chosen few ( 50 editors and journalists).
  • Peter Som also announced that he won’t be presenting his collection in the NYFW runways. He will be presenting, but on another format.
  • Chris Benz is also skipping Fashion Week, he plans to revamp the brand for a new and more contemporary target.
  • Betsey Johnson will be showing on NYFW, so does Kenneth Cole after a seven year absence.
  • Swedish retailer, H&M, will be holding a Paris fashion show for the first time in eight years.
  • Also, Whistles has announced they will be showing at LFW. Seems retailers are following Topshop’s Unique steps.

  • NYFW: February 7-14
  • LFW: February 15-19
  • MFW: February 20- 26
  • PFW: February 26- March 6

Remember that most of the shows can be watched live on streaming! I will be providing all the links and dates on my FB page. Like it HERE. In the meantime, keep checking back for more coverage on the Fashion Month. It’s gonna be a good one!

Sweet kisses…

Good Tuesday my sweet readers! We still have a few days till the weekend end starts and to cheer us up, a peplum post  for you. This time we are going to talk about the peplum top. Printed, solid or even with embroidrey details, you can find them in every store. Just choose the one that suits you best, and off you go. I have put together a look mixing this trend with the floral jeans one. It’s an outfit you can easily wear to a job meeting, drinks with friends or even brunch. First, let me show you a bunch of peplums you can find online, they are ready to be yours (and just one click away)!

TOP: Topshop / River Island / Dorothy Perkins

MIDDLE: H&M / Miss Selfridge / Lipsy

BOTTOM: Dorothy Perkins / Marc Jacobs / Dorothy Perkins

Adding a peplum is a great way to dress up your jeans. Throwing in some floral print, is definitely a way to make it more interesting. And about those Zara wedges, new in this week so get them while you can. I’m already out the door to get my pair. They are gonna sell out soon!

For all the details on today’s look, go to FASHIOLISTA

Mirror shoes, floral jeans, statement necklace and a peplum? Nice way to mix up some of the season’s trends, don’t you think? You likey? Give me a piece of your mind, it’s always appreciated!

Sweet kisses…

Good morning my sweet readers! Why not start the day with a fresh and floral post? The Garden Goddess series are back and better than ever. On a rainy day like this one, all we need is color. Today’s post is devoted to one of the season’s strongest trends: the flower printed pants. Versatile and resourceful, a pair of floral beauties are a must-have item in your closet. First of all, here’s an adorable selection of trousers you can find online.

TOP: Dolce & Gabbana / TOPSHOP / Dolce & Gabbana

BOTTOM: Current/Elliot / Dolce & Gabbana / River Island

Today’s look is all about cute and casual. Mixing floral pants with a peplum and some trainers would seem rather unusual, but when paired up together, they seem to fall right into place. I rarely use tennis shoes on my looks, let alone Converse, but I am really starting to dig them! What about you?

For all the details on today’s look, click HERE!

We are almost done with our Garden Goddess series and then it’s that time of the month, NAIL FILES time! Keep checking back if you want the low down on the season’s newest polish trends.

Sweet kisses…

S/S Selection: PRADA

Summer is here, our vactions are just around the corner. And what better way to prepare ourselves for the holidays than to get into Signora Miuccia’s colorful and fruity vibe. This was probably one of the best collections of the season, along with Jil Sander and Dolce & Gabbana. This was also the collection that snagged more magazine covers and that drove us all fashion lovers bananas. And since summer and color are a match made in heaven, channeling Prada seems like the right thing to do. Colorful stripes, strong prints, ruffles, embroidery and even those delicious fox scarves were among the things we saw on the runway last september. And in a very fashionable and predictable way, retailers all around the world, copied the trend making it available to us mortals. And since the July sales are about to begin, you might find those garments half price. Isn’t fashion the most wonderful thing?

So since I’m in a holiday mood right now (my plane for Mexico City departs in exactly four days and Acapulco, LA and Vegas are waiting for me), I bring to you an item selection to “Pimp with Prada” (or the next best thing) that suitcase of yours!

  • THE H&M BIKINI: This bikini has been photographed, bought and worn by thousands of people all over the globe. Clearly inspired by Miuccia Prada’s trend, this bandeau top with string bottoms is a must-have (that is if you can still find it, and if you find it, you’ll be paying it half price!).
  • THE MANGO SWIRL CROPPED SHIRT: Still available online (RUN FORREST RUN!), this t-shirt is a knock-off of the one worn by Hannah Noble on Prada’s S/S 2011 runway. But it’s a knock-off gone great. Tons of bloggers and fashion icons have it in their closets. And why not? It’s the closest thing to Prada, and really pocket friendly.
  • ASOS BANANA PENDANT: Everyone went for the earrings, but you can go for the pendant. Cheap, flashy and very Prada, buy it while you can! With a flirty polka dot bikini or with a white tank and a pair of shorts, you will nail it!
  • H&M STRIPED TOTE: When I saw it in the store, I immediately thought of Prada. This bag can be worn with a pair of jeans for casual, you can even take it to the beach (I know, there is leather in it, but the stripes give it a more casual vibe). You can get it for only 24.95 Euros, or maybe with a discount,
  • ASOS BELTED DRESS: Also a copy of that dress that was so well worn by Amanda Seyfried in an Elle cover (and she was not the only one). Flirty but classy, with colors that’ll make you pop, wear it with a pair of woven wedges and you can even throw in a hat. How very Hamptons of you!
  • PRADA FOX SCARF: Probably impossible to get, I dream of hugging it every night. But hey, a girl can dream. I just had to put it in my post and I felt an adrenaline rush just by drawing it. If you are among the lucky ones who have it hanging in a closet, take a picture and send it to me so I can cry.
  • ASOS BANANA BODYCON SKIRT: Great to show off your knockout figure and your killer legs. Pair it with a striped top or a silky, bright one and some statement shoes. It’s all about going over the top!
  • STRIPED TANK TOP: A basic that can give you your money’s worth. This one is Diesel but I can guarantee every store is carrying their own version. Tucked inside a flashy skirt, with a pair of cutt-offs or as a beach cover-up, by the end of the Summer, it’s going to be all worn out.
  • TOPSHOP EMBORIDERED HOTPANTS: Same as with the Mango shirt, but in a pair of shorts. How great is that? Get your pair ASAP! I see the as Prada with a twist.
  • PRADA CAT-EYE SUNNIES: All I can say is: “Thank you Miuccia”. The most stylish sunglasses of the season, and probably of the decade. If you cross paths with them, don’t even hesitate and remeber “For everything else, there’s Mastercard”.
I put together two outfits for you as well. One is more for the beach, the other one is more dressy and suitable for afternoon drinks.
Tanning session and poolside drinks! This is the outfit you want to be wearing. Relaxed and comfortable, but keeping the style. H&M’s Banana Tank top tucked into a striped, colorful culotte from ASOS. Underneath a flirty and retro bikini top in green, from the fabulous Betsey Johnson. The infamous banana bottoms from H&M. I have a thing for mixing separates, I have so much fun with it and the result is always amazing! Prada’s dramatic sunglasses and a pair of Promise wedges (please don’t walk in the sand with heels, Shauna Sand is not a role model, EEK!).
For a more dressy occasion, dinner date, drinks with friends, I chose a midi skirt in bright orange. It also makes me think a little about Jil Sander for a second. To tone it down a notch, an embroidered Mango t-shirt (I think Mango reallly pulled it off this season). A Prada striped clutch for a more evening look. Pumps with a woven platform from LULUS.COM. For accessories, the fabulous and amazing starfish bracelet from Bimba & Lola. Also, the YSL arty ring, a MUST-HAVE in your jewelry case. Another ring to add more drama from ASOS and a bright nail polish shade from ESSIE.
I hope you liked my take on Prada for the summer! And for tomorrow, check back for some Daily Fashion Bread.
Sweet kisses…

The Daily Fashion Bread: June 21, 2011

Well, I have kept you newsless for the past two days. The lovely Sirmione, Italy kept me away from my laptop for a while (my eyes thanked me for the break!). But freshly baked, or not, here it is, your daily bread!

  • Versace for H&M, God has answered our prayers, fashion people! Joining Roberto Cavalli, Comme des Garçons, Matthew Williamson, Jimmy Choo and Lanvin, who have previously collaborated with the Swedish retailer, Versace has just signed a deal to design a collection fot H&M. It will be available on November 19, so mark that date on you calendars! Donatella Versace and her glamourous creations will be hitting the web and selected stores this fall. And her spring pre-collection will be available on January only for online purchase. She will be doing womenswear, menswear and even a little home inspired by iconic pieces from previous collections! WATCH THE VIDEO ANNOUNCEMENT HERE

  • Alaïa to Dior: No thanks! After the Galliano incident (currently in rehab but his appearance in court is expected on Wednesday) and months of speculation about who will succed the designer as Creative Director of the french fashion house, we are still in the dark. Names have been said, including Burton, Ackermann and Tisci, but up until now just rumors.  What we do know is that the Tunisian designer, Azzedine Alaïa was offered the job and turned it down. Flattered but not interested, the designer is said to have refused to take the position because of the pressure and fast pace big fashion houses work with. Alaïa, now in his 70’s, has alway worked at his own pace.
  •  David “Candy” Gandy. Aside from the fact that I saw his fabulous self three days ago in person and my heart stopped for a few seconds, Mr. Gandy, the world’s most beautiful man, has now been immortalized in a book. Fashion Designer duo, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana (also his biggest fans) have compilated in a book the britsh model’s career highlights, including those white speedo’s everyone has been drooling about ever since the Light Blue campaign came out. From catwalk pictures to unseen portraits, this book, David Gandy by Dolce & Gabbana is all about a gorgeous piece of mancandy, also known as David Gandy.
  • McMenamy for Gaultier Fall 2011. Veteran model Kristen McMenamy has got it going on. Ever since that Vogue Italia’s cover, the 46 year old has walked the runway for Lagerfeld in Chanel Cruise 2012 and has now snagged Jean Paul Gaultier’s latest ad campaign for fall. Styled by the one and only, Carine Roitfeld, Kristen looks sleek and chic in a tight leather skirt!
Check back for a new post, coming up soon!
Sweet kisses…
