SPRING GROCERIES, part 2

groceries

As promised, I am back with another one of our Spring Groceries posts, it’s the second from a three-part series. Dressing up casually or for an evening out is relatively easy. Almost every day, women ask themselves the same question: “What am I supposed to wear today?” And then comes the next statement: “I have absolutely nothing to wear (even though the closet is packed with clothes)”. Having your off-duty and on duty basics is what will save you from arriving late to dinner after you put on your entire closet and ended up with the first thing you tried on. They will save you from arriving late to work because your alarm didn’t go off and you didn’t have a last minute savior, the garment you know you can pair with almost anything and whip up a great look. This reasons are reasons enough for me to put together a Spring 2013 Off-duty, On duty basics. Check them out and cross out those you already have. Let’s begin!

on dutyDrinks with friends, a first date, a family dinner, a night out with the colleagues, our lives are filled with things to do and places to be. And there are times where those skinny jeans and your high-tops just won’t do. For a dressier occasion, there is always the basic garment you just can’t live without. Forget about the boring black blazer or the black stiletto pumps, this Spring  the “on duty” garments are more unexpected than expected:

  1. Warrior heels: They are sexy and they have that “good girl gone bad” vibe. Men love them and they have the power of sexing-up anything you are wearing. Brian Atwood is responsible for this two-toned beauties.
  2. Minimal culotte: With a sweatshirt, with a shirt and a blazer, with a tee, with a leather top, possibilities are endless. This pair is from Zara and is already a blogger favorite.
  3. The detailed button-down: Leave your white shirt for work or an off-duty day. When going out, printed, embroidered or embellished blouses are the way to go. Feeling a little edgy? Match them to crazy prints and killer heels. This beauty is from Marni.
  4. The black envelope: If you don’t have one already, start saving up! Black envelope clutches are perfect for when having to make a day outfit a little dressier for the night. Marni also made this black number.
  5. The evening slipper: How many times have you wanted to ditch the heels for a night but you don’t have another option that goes with your evening ensemble. A pair of embroidered slippers or leopard ones (Charlotte Olympia’s kittens are a dreamboat) will save your life and your outfit!
  6. The monochromatic trousers: Black and white is a classic that never goes out of style. This season, with the Beetlejuice stripes everywhere, options are endless. You can go for the whole Balmain style striped jeans or off-white trousers with black details.
  7. The new LBD: Forget about your tailored, simple frock. Go for a detailed one: textures, lace, ruffles, leather, your choice. Victoria Beckham is a master when it comes to reworking the famous LBD.
  8. The double-breasted waistcoat: Forget about the black blazer, each time you want to add a tailored piece to you ensemble, go for the waistcoat. Oh yeah, the vest is the new blazer. Waistcoat, Zara.
  9. Statement skirt: I like them flouncy, but you can go pencil, a-line or bodycon. Just pick a print that’s bold, but not flashy enough. Remember, basics are meant to go with everything. Skirt, Zara
  10. Naked black heels: There’s nothing sexier than pedicured feet (please, when wearing this, a pedicure, moisturizer and a good scrub is mandatory) in a pair of barely there heels. Have always a black pair with you, it will come in handy when you least expect it! Heels, Zara
  11. The evening bomber: Need to cover up for a windy Spring night? Leave your biker at home and switch to an evening bomber. Don’t think varsity, you can now find them in silk, lace, leather, even beautiful prints. This baby is from DKNY.

OFF DUTY

Dressing up for a casual day can be more difficult than it seems, save yourself the trouble and check this list. You should (ok, if you want to) have all this items inside your closet at all times, clean, ironed and ready to wear. You never know when you’ll need them!

  1. The army tee: Even if you are not keen on camo, this baby with a pair of cut-offs, some skinny jeans or even a leather skirt can be a total life saver. Tee, Current Elliot
  2. Casual ruffles: This is a boho chic skirt, but you can give it the twist you want with the right choice of top. A long sweater with some boots for a more relaxed and comfy style. A tee and some sneakers or a leather jacket for some edge?
  3. The denim shirt: Always a basic, always comes in handy and with the denim trend this season, even more so. This beauty is from Dsquared.
  4. The cool aviators: I’ve always been a Ray Ban kind of gal, but with all the designers embracing this shape, possibilities are endless. For a touch of glamour, go for gold frames.
  5. White and distressed: Blue jeans are not as exciting as white ones. Add some rough patches and a great fit, you’ve got a winning combo. You can wear them at night with a cool top, for the day with a tee and a bomber.
  6. The off-duty tunic: Days where you don’t want to think and pair garments happen to all of us. That’s when the off duty tunic comes in: throw a pair of flat gladiators, a messenger bag and a denim jacket and you are good to go! Tunic, Zara
  7. The gray pullover: Sweatshirts have take over the word thanks to the genius Nicolas Ghesquiere and a gray one is the one that has proved more resourceful.
  8. The beaded jacket: You might think of this baby as more of an evening garment, but trust me, a white tank and some distressed skinnies with some barely there flats is pure bliss. You’ll be comfy, you’ll be well dressed and you’ll survive the heat.
  9. The Becketts: They are the originals, and trust me, they are worth the splurge. Isabel Marant is to blame for this babies and they are not going anywhere anytime soon. If you wanna save up, look for an alternative, not a clone. Adidas high-tops are to die for and affordable. CLICK HERE to take a look.
  10. Camel lace-ups: Sexy, off-duty or on duty depending what you pair them with, perfect for Spring and Summer. With jeans, with a boho dress, with shorts, with everything! Really, go, buy them, NOW! This wonders are from Rebecca Minkoff.

There you go, more staples for your Spring closet! One more to go and we will move on to how to wear them!

Have a beautiful weekend,

Sweet kisses…

Spring 2013 Trends: THE GOOD GIRL

the good girl

Good morning, my sweet readers! This is the last post (for now) before we put our Spring Trends guide on hiatus, and you know why… Fashion week is just two days away and our coverage is ready to start! In the meantime, I have a trend that’s cute as a button and dressy as dressy can get. As I kid, I had two favorite cartoons: Babar and Madeline. Little did I know that I would grow up to be the ultimate francophile. When I individuated the Good Girl trend from the Spring 2013 runways, I new I had to go with a grown-up Madeline illustration. I would kill for Madeline’s cape/coat, I might make myself one!

Back to what concerns us today, the good girl trend is very different from the ladylike style. Is has the same vibe, but it’s younger, it’s more playful and of course, flirtier. Flared garments, pussybows, ruffles and golden buttons are all part of the good girl’s closet and even if you have dubbed yourself a tough chick, you can still dress up like a good gal.

WHO DID IT:

  • Marc Jacobs / Victoria Beckham / Carven
  • Sass & Bide / Burberry Prorsum / Giles

MUST-HAVE PIECES: A skater dress or a ruffled hem one. A flared and flirty skirt in a bold color. Polka dot trousers or pants with a soft print. A structured jacket with golden buttons. A pussybow blouse.

Spring 2013 Trends: LADY MELLOW

LADY MELLOW COVERGood morning, my sweet readers! We are just three days away from the start of what will be a glorious fashion month. I’m already whipping up some posts and getting all prepped and ready for Sweet n’Raw’s coverage. In the meantime, I still have a bunch of Spring trends in the oven, sitting there, waiting to be published. While we wait for the Fall collections to walk the runways, we can start lusting after the Spring items that will be joining our closets.

Today I have for you an all-time favorite trend: LADY MELLOW. My affair with pastel colors began after my punk and goth teenage years. I went from being a girl with Che Guevara t-shirts and neck piercings, to being the queen of lace (no, not black and vampy, but sugary and pretty) with a powdery shades obsession. That’s why every time my beloved mint and my baby pink appear on the runway, I get high as a kite. This season, pastels are not the strongest trend but thankfully, they are still around. But the Lady Mellow trend is not only about pastels, it’s about powdery garments, with a ladylike vibe, lots of lace, crepe de chine, volume skirts, picture perfect handbags, sheer and jacquard, and lovey dovey knitwear. Think Betty Draper, when she was more sweet than sour.

WHO DID IT:

  • Peter Som / Rochas / Erdem
  • Christopher Kane / Carolina Herrera / Oscar de la Renta

MUST-HAVE ITEMS: A pretty yellow dress for sunny days. A pair of pastel, tapered shorts. A pink, flirty skirt. A pastel bikini (a girl always has Summer in her  mind) and a bunch of powdery button-downs.

mellow splurge

  1. Printed blouse, Equipment
  2. Tailored shorts, Moschino
  3. Diamond jumper, Carven
  4. Embellished slippers, Dolce & Gabbana
  5. Yellow dress, Rochas
  6. Green sunnies, Stella McCartney
  7. Mint coat, Moschino
  8. Structured bag, Miu Miu
  9. Blush skirt, Alexander McQueen
  10. Lace-up heels, Moschino

LMELLOW STEAL

  1. Pussybow blouse, Topshop
  2. Mint bikini set, Carine Gilson
  3. Texture jumper, Chicnova
  4. Detailed flats, Zara
  5. Jacquard dress, Topshop
  6. Jacquard pants, J. Crew
  7. Vintage sunnies, Leonard Vintage
  8. Heart print skirt, River Island
  9. Shoulder bag, River Island
  10. Toe-cap pumps, ASOS

That’s it of the day! I still have a couple of trends before we unleash the Fashion Week madness, stay tuned!

Sweet kisses…

Spring 2013 Trends: SPRING LEATHER

spring leather cover

It’s almost Friday, my sweet readers and I finally got to see the sun after many, cold and cruel days of thunder. Couture week just wrapped up, NYC is getting ready for the Fashion Week kick-off and as February approaches, so does Spring (I can’t way to put away those heavy coats and get some decent color on my ghostly legs). We are halfway through with our Spring 2013 report, there are so many fabulous trends to cover and I plan on giving you an extensive and detailed coverage of each and every one of them. This is the sixth post from the series and one that I personally adore: LEATHER.  It’s been a while since leather took over the Spring runways (years ago, we only got to see this beauty on the Fall catwalks) and each season, we get positively surprised by the designers and their take on it.

For the coming season, possibilities are endless. There’s the trouser mania. Not your usual black, leathery leggings, but slouchy pants, tapered ones, joggers, neutral colors, bold shades. Dresses: a beige leather dress paired up with a floral jacket or an embroidered cardigan is a must! The barely there garments: whether you choose a pair of drawstring shorts, a sexy bodycon mini or some naked sandals, you’ll be rocking those legs all the way! Perforated leather garments are pure works of art so score one while they are out there! Last but not least, light leather outerwear can add a fabulous twist to your breezy, Spring ensembles.

WHO DID IT?

  • Ferragamo / Jason Wu / Versace
  • Mugler / Giles / Miu Miu

MUST-HAVE PIECES: The nude jacket, perfect companion for those Spring, windy nights. The trousers, worth investing in them. The barely there, leather sandals (sexy as hell). A leather top, a fun twist for your daily outfits.

leather splurge

  1. Biker jacket, Belstaff
  2. Shorts, Drome
  3. Texture shirt, Tibi
  4. Oxfords, Robert Clergerie
  5. Top, Mason by Michelle Mason
  6. Dress, Theyskens’ Theory
  7. Sunglasses, Linda Farrow
  8. Sandals, Chloe
  9. Two-tone tote, Rochas
  10. Zipper trousers, Emilio Pucci

STEAL LEATHER

  4. Pencil skirt, All Saints
  5. Dress, Topshop
  6. Pants, Vero Moda

Digging leather for Spring? I am loving it! It’s almost Friday, hang in there!

Sweet n’raw’s X’mas Gift Gide: OLD HOLLYWOOD DIVA

old hollywood

It’s Sunday and Milan has never felt colder for me (I’ve been living here for four years). Then I think about my beloved Mexico, my little piece of paradise called Acapulco and I die a little inside (30º and Summer sun, 365 days a year). I’m not saying that I hate Winter in Europe, I’d like it better if I were inside a mountain chalet, wrapped up in a furry blanket, sipping hot chocolate (ok, maybe a White Russian to get the heat going). Holiday season really makes me homesick. Anyway, back to what concers us today. This is the sixth and probably last post from our X’mas Shopping Guide (I’m not sure if I should do a couple more, let me know if you’d like me to).

I’ve been wanting to do the classic Audrey Hepburn illustration for so long, and I finally found the perfect excuse: the gift guide for the Old Hollywood Diva. We all have that certain friend that dresses like she just got out of a Fellini movie. We all have that friend that has watched every single Audrey Hepburn movie more times than we’ve watched Sex & the City re-runs. We all have that friend that still prefers a good old Hollywood romance, than that Twilight crap playing in your nearest multi-plex. If you do have a friend like this, her it is, the gift guide for the Old Hollywood Diva. Enjoy!

SUMMER GETAWAYS 2012: The Hopeless Romantic (evening)

And so the end is near, we are entering the Evening round on our Summer Getaways series and 5 posts away from wrapping it all up. To kick this round off, the Hopeless Romantic. As I told you before, this Sweet’n'Raw character is completely inspired by me, my style and my likes (just take a look at today’s outfit). So if you are packing your suitcase for one last Summer escape and you are heading out to the land of wine and romance, if you need the perfect ensemble for a candelit dinner followed by drinks with a view, if Napa Valley is that final destination, if a midnight stroll in Paris is what you’ll be doing in the next few days, then this look is just for you!

  • Pulling off a monochromatic look with a detailed top is more fun and the result is even prettier.
  • Nothing says romance more than a lady in blush
  • Belts are a girl’s best friend when it comes to enhancing the waist
  • Add a touch of color with the shoes. Teal and blush are a match made in heaven
  • Add more sparkle with statement bracelets (just the right amount to make everything fall into place)
  • Dark, berry nails will give the whole ensemble a dramatic twist

WHAT SOPHIE IS WEARING

For all the details on today’s look, go to FASHIOLISTA.

That’s a wrap for today! Let me remind you, Sweet’n'Raw just joined Tumblr. It’s not a blog, it’s just a visual summary of what goes on here and on the FB fan page. If you wish to follow and recieve my updates, click HERE.

Tomorrow’s Friday! Sweet kisses…

SWEET’N'RAW DOES CHICTOPIA vol 2.

Happy and relaxing Sunday, my sweet readers! The Garden Goddess series is officially on hold, only because today I wanted to show you Sweet’n'Raw’s latest article for Chictopia. As I told you before,  I am contributing with a weekly article for the site, each Monday you can read some new lines, by me. For this article, I wanted to do something different from my usual styling illustrations, I wanted to pay homage to the season’s most wanted, designer garments. So here they are, the coveted.

5 Spring 2012 “IT” Girl Styles That We Love

Not too many seasons ago, it was all about the girl on the cover. Nowadays, it’s more about what the girl on the cover is wearing. Correct me if I’m wrong, but it all started with the S/S 2011 Prada dress, the one with the stripes, the ruffled hem and the Vitamin-colored hues. Signora Miuccia’s colorful creation snagged more covers and editorials than Kate and Naomi together.

After the Prada moment, it has been a seasonal race among designers and their creations. Spring is halfway through and some of the season’s “IT” garments have already been determined. Who will take
the crown? Gucci’s flappers? Prada’s retro engines? Ralph Lauren’s Gatsby girls? Keep on reading and you shall find out.

PRADA’S DANGEROUS BODYSUIT

It’s a fact: covers are to Miuccia Prada what MVP awards were to Michael Jordan. Win them big and win them all. First the bananas, then the sequin scales and now it’s time for her hot wheels to take over the editorial world. There is not one magazine issue that doesn’t feature the green leather skirt with the automotive print, the pastel, micro-pleated dress, the crochet coat or the bandeau top. However, in addition to all of this there’s one piece that really stole the show. The textured bodysuit with the bejeweled belt and the dangerous curves has made Prada, once again, queen of the covers.

DOLCE & GABBANA’S VEGGIE COMBO

These are some seriously fashionable and proud italians. Every season, they pay their signature homage to their beloved Sicilian siren. This Spring, inspired by Sophia Loren, the bombshell par excellence, Italian cuisine got sexy on the runway to the sounds of Mambo Italiano.

Before Dolce & Gabbana, wearing garlics and onion would have been for vampire slayers only and a chili pepper print could easily get you mistaken for a jalapeño bag of chips. To Domenico & Stefano, the vegetable garden is not only wearable, but fabulous. If in doubt, grab a magazine, flick through it and there you’ll find it: the onion combo, cropped jacket, bralette and high waisted shorts.

GIVENCHY’S SHINY DISCO RUFFLES

Riccardo Tisci has consistently delivered great fashion and art on behalf of Givenchy. This year was no exception for the Italian designer. Glossy magazine pages have been invaded by his perfectly tailored ruffles, and since fashion beings tend to love all things shiny, Tisci’s sequin suits have taken the spotlight. A French, human disco ball? We’ll take it!

MIU MIU’S WALLPAPER PRINTS

Wonder Miuccia can do it all: whip up two stellar collections each season, put together the best ad campaigns and of course, snag more features, covers and editorials than everyone else. Mrs. Prada is clearly on a mission, she wants to conquer the world (move over Karl, the time has come for a Fashion Kaiserin). Miu Miu’s Spring collection reminded us why we love the brand so much. It’s only natural that the off-shoulder capes, the cropped tops with the a-line skirts and the mismatched micro prints earned a big spot inside our monthly fashion bibles.

LOUIS VUITTON’S COTTON CANDY DRESS

As if the magical carousel set wasn’t enough, the showman, Marc Jacobs put together a collection that brought us all a sugar high (in a good way). Everything about it from the powdery color palette and the feminine shapes, to the meticulous and beautiful eyelet work, screamed magazine material. Said and done, Alexa Chung, Jessica Stam, “The New Body” Kloss and many more have been immortalized by many world-renowned lenses wearing Louis Vuitton’s candy coated creations.

The season is still young and we are bound to see more cover-worthy fashion. Prada took the first leg. Will Proenza or Prabal take the next?

Stay tuned for tomorrow’s article, I have a feeling you are really gonna dig it! Now I’m off to bed, big & busy day tomorrow. My overloaded brain needs to shut down and my freshly washed & moisturized face needs its beauty sleep. Have a good one y’all…

Sweet kisses…

PFW COVERAGE: La Parisienne

Buongiorno! Sunny days are finally here in Milan, weather forecast is already showing 20º and I couldn’t be happier! As Spring approaches, so does my B-day and the end of this Fashion Month coverage. Today I have some stellar Parisian fashion, courtesy of Valentino, Carven, Nina Ricci, Miu Miu and the always genius, Givenchy. What to expect? Cuteness, lingerie, romance, darkness and more! Ready, set, go!

CARVEN

This is my favorite brand that shows in Paris, season by season it just blows me away. The style, the shapes, the colors are really, really what I’m into. For this season, the wonderful Guillaume Henry sent out the runway a collection inspired by the Medieval times. With that characteristic chic vibe, Henry went a little more dramatic this time. Color palette included shades that the designer used beautifully on his Spring collection: mustard and red. He paired them up with some burnt orange, classic black and the very resourceful, cobalt blue. Textures included tapestry, laser cut, dazzling prints and cut-outs. For the shapes, it was all so clean and pretty: A-line skirts, oversized coats, capes, blazers and perfectly tailored, cropped pants. The t-strap shoes were to die for and collars and cuffs peeked out from some garments. I want to be a Carven girl, I need to be a Carven girl!

VALENTINO

Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli’s dramatic romance has really become a trademark for the Italian brand. You can spot a creation by this duo from miles away. This collection was inspired by folk and may we say that the result was effortlessly beautiful. The show was packed with embellished gowns, structured and detailed coats, their signature colored leather and the classic Valentino red dress display. The air of femininity filled the catwalk with meticulous sheer inserts, Victorian lace, shimmering garments and pretty, ankle-strapped pumps. My favorite look, the long, nude dress with the flower embellishments and embroideries. Overall, it was fashion poetry…

GIVENCHY

Leave it to Signor Tisci to make an impact on the runway. Season after season, the Italian designer has worked his ass off to become one of PFW’s favorites. His genius, talent and construction skills just keep on sweeping us off our feet. As always, it was a dramatic and dark catwalk. His inspiration was clear: equestrian with the expected pinch of bondage. Leather was the main element on the show, it opened with a series of black, rubbery and structured numbers. His already signature sheer skirts also made it on to the runway over sexy enough, slip dresses. The boots were one of the highest notes and those slouchy, leather trousers (middle picture) are just pure French perfection. Riccardo Tisci just seems to always get it right, he is an all-time favorite that’s definitely here to stay.

NINA RICCI

It’s Peter Copping and his lingerie once again and we never get tired of it. Models strutted the catwalk with side-swept bangles and dramatic berry puckers and lovely, lovely garments. Nina Ricci is always about a game between seduction and cuteness. It was a neutral color palette with some hints of plum. Lacy and sheer slip dresses were paired up with heavy and structured coats. Volume (big trend of the season) played an important part with those puffy and printed numbers and soft fur embellished the perfectly tailored outerwear. The show had that Paris chic vibe that we all love so much. Special mention to the ankle-crossed pumps (BIG ACCESSORY TREND ALERT!) that complemented beautifully Copping’s sensual ensembles.

MIU MIU

Now that’s an unexpected turn. We were really getting used to Miuccia Prada’s cute and girly skirt parade and we kind of loved it. For this season, it was all about the menswear and the famous pantsuit. And guess what? We kind of love it too. With a jeweled color palette, Mrs. Prada sent out the runway a total of 37, perfectly tailored looks. The fabulous range of 70′s inspired prints (stripes, tapestry, hexagonal and more) created a game of optical illusion. Of course, some cute leg-flashing was present and some solid colors as well. As always, the shoes are definitely worth mentioning: loafers reinvented all the way. I always love Miuccia’s stuff, but I do have to admit that being a girly girl, I am more into her frilly and cute skirts and dresses.  Anyway, being objective, it was another amazing collection from the Italian designer extraordinaire.

LOOK OF THE DAY

This is definitely a Parisian macaron inspired look, and very appropriate to say bye, bye to those lovely furry coats that have kept us warm and stylish during the Winter (after all, Spring is almost here). I chose a pretty yellow playsuit from ASOS. The lace and front bow detail make it even cuter. For coverage, a striped furry coat in pale pink, also from ASOS. For leg coverage (this is going to be one of the last looks with tights), a Sweet’n'Raw favorite, Modcloth‘s spotty, white tights. For the shoes, keeping up with the pastel vibe, minty court shoes from CO-OP.

For the bag, a classic vintage Chanel one. This two-toned beauty is definitely a dreamboat. And since it’s all about lavish details, for jewelry: a pair of bow & pearl earrings from Kate Spade, a woven pink bracelet, a floral and butterfly one and a crystal stretch bangle. For the final touch, a pretty ring with an aquamarine stone from TOPSHOP and TOM FORD‘s Naked nail polish.

All the deets on today’s look can be found at FASHIOLISTA.

We are halfway through with our coverage and after that, a little giveaway and some Spring are on the horizon. Brace yourselves, fashionable ladies!

Sweet kisses…

PFW LINE-UP, LITERATURE STYLE

Time for the cherry on top of our Fashion Week cake, time for lovely Paris. After three long and exciting weeks of runway madness, we still have seven beautiful days to enjoy what the prettiest city in Europe has to offer. The schedule is busy, the list is long, the names are powerful and I am sure that our expectations will certainly be  surpassed. Remeber my NYFW line-up post, that little game I played with baseball terms and designers? Well, for Paris I had to come up with a more cultural theme. After a long discussion with my sister, the one with the Literature degree, the one that calls my Chick Lit trash, this is what I came up with.

You don’t have to love Kafka, but I bet you sure know who he is. He was and still is one of the most powerful authors of all times. This six brands are to fashion what Kafka is to Literature. What we can expect from their shows: la creme de la creme, a killer front row, a jaw-dropping set and an impressive model line-up.

  • LOUIS VUITTON, Wednesday 7th
  • GIVENCHY, Sunday 4th
  • CHANEL, Tuesday 6th

They are the ones that always bring the romance, the flowers, the lace and the sheer to PFW. From Valentino´s long sleeved and flowy gowns and Nina Ricci’s lingerie inspired collections, to Elie Saab’s dreamy fabrics, their creations seem to really come out from a Jane Austen novel.

  • GIAMBATTISTA VALLI, Monday 5th
  • ELIE SAAB, Wednesday 7th
  • CHRISTIAN DIOR, Friday 2nd
  • YVES SAINT LAURENT, Monday 5th

Just like Oscar Wilde’s interesting personality, this group of designers not only bring their genius to the table, but also their  strong minded creations. Collections filled with drama and eccentricity, always make powerful statements on PFW. Like Mr. Wilde, they sure know how to draw attention to themselves in the purest form of art.

Chick lit may not be considered classic literature, but it is what most of us girls like to read right now. And this six designers are what us girls are wearing right now or dream of it anyway. From Stella’s stellar collections, to Isabel Marant’s chic nonchalance, thanks to this brands and like a Sex and the City episode, the street has become our concrete catwalk.

  • CHLOÉ, Monday 5th
  • CELINE, Sunday 4th
  • ISABEL MARANT, Friday 2nd

They put the d in dark and the t in twisted. These shows, like Mr. Poe’s stories and poems, are always on the mysterious and macabre side. Many of their looks may not be wearable (not even Anna dello Russo wearable), but they sure are beautiful works of art and construction.

  • GARETH PUGH, Wednesday 29th
  • ANNE DEMEULEMEESTER, Thursday 1st
  • YOHJI YAMAMOTO, Friday 2nd
  • MUGLER, Wednesday 29th
  • COMME DES GARÇONS, Saturday 3rd

And last but not least, this group is the Andre Breton of fashion (an expert when it came to breaking traditional shapes and transforming them into new ones). They are not afraid to try new materials and shapes. They always manage to do the unexpected. If you want novelty, innovation and genius, this are the ones to watch.

  • MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA, Friday 2nd
  • HAIDER ACKERMANN, Saturday 3rd
  • BALENCIAGA, Thursday 1st
  • JUNYA WATANABE, Saturday 3rd
  • CHALAYAN, Friday 2nd
  • DRIES VAN NOTEN, Wednesday 29th

Now you know what to expect and when to expect it! PFW is just getting started and I’m sure some amazing creations are ready and waiting to walk the Paris runways.

Sweet kisses…

MAN UP! The Tuxedo Pants

Afternoon my sweet readers! How’s your weekend going so far? I ran away from Milano’s rainy weather to a much more gentle one in the picturesque city of Modena (it’s just as cold but with no rain). This is the last post from our trendy, tuxedo series. I’ve already given you the jacket and the shirt, now it’s time to show who has the pants, the fashionable pants. Elegant, stylish and distinguished, when this garment picks up the tux trend is only to flatter our figures and enhance our features in a sophisicated way. Even if you add a funky t-shirt, you are always gonna get that dressy and distinguished vibe from them. The cuts, shapes and textures in which you can find this type of trousers are unlimited: slouchy, tappered, cigarette, flared, velvet, wool and more. So pick the one that suits you best and start tuxing!

PANTS SELECTION

LOOK OF THE DAY

This time I wanted to downplay the whole ensemble. The tux trousers themselves are a powerful garment, so by using basic and soft colored pieces, I think I achieved a rather casual vibe. I chose a pair of cropped and fitted pants from ASOS. I paired it up with a double tiered, jersey blouse from Miu Miu, cute but not over-the-top. For coverage, a rebel twist, a blush, leather biker from Zara (this is an investment you won’t regret, you can use it with just about everything). For the shoes, the most coveted pair of flats, the loveliest of them all, Charlotte Olympia’s Kitty flats.

Since the kitten ballerinas have made us feel a little feline, let’s add some leopard to the mix. This duffle bag from Steve Madden* has the perfect price and style. For jewelry, a statement necklace from Accessorize. Generally, this would be used with a more dressy, dressy, ensemble but since we are playing with contrasts… For your hands, a golden ring trio: one with your initials, one with a little bird (both from Urban Outfitters) and another one with an acqua stone from Topshop. The final detail, Essie’s School or Hardrocks for your nails.

That’s it for the day. Now you are ready to embrace de tux trend to the max! I’m prepared for our next series of posts, wanna know what’s it all about? Check back tomorrow!

PS: All the details from today’s look can be found over at FASHIOLISTA.

Sweet kisses…
