The September Issue Brief: VOGUE

Yup, I made my own cover, and I’m wearing fabulous Haider Ackermann

Hello sweet readers! I won’t blame you if you are somewhat pissed at me for not posting for a while. But I am back with loads of new material to share with you. And since Fashion Week is just around the corner, we are all getting pretty excited here! September is not only about S/S runways, it’s also about those glossy, chunky and monthly fashion bibles, commonly known as magazines. Every September they dedicate countless pages to the biggest trends of the coming season: What to wear, how to wear it, how to pair it, what to buy, and more! Lots and lots of pages, filled with lots and lots of fashion. J’adore! So let’s see what Vogue has in store for us this month!

Cover girl: Kate Moss

She is wearing: Alexander McQueen A/W 2011 (modified dress)

Photographer: Mario Testino

What we thought: Definitely one of our favorites! Kate Moss was the right person to grace the cover of such an important issue. Not only because of her fabulous wedding and her stunning self, but also because when it comes to fashion, she is the queen of all models. Shot by Mario Testino, the spread is as expected, elegant and romantic but with Kate written all over it.

Cover girl: Freja Beha Erichsen

She is wearing: Dolce & Gabbana

Photographer: Mario Testino

What we thought: Everybody loves Freja, and it is more than obvious that everybody loves Mr. Testino. This choice was an unexpected surprise, but a good one. There is something about this girl, she is intoxicating, intriguing. Even for those who don’t now who she is, you can’t help but stare, open the mag, and look for her spread. Add some sequins to the mix, she is a seller! Plus, this girl is already part of Fashion’s history, she will be timeless, just like Kate.

Cover girl: Charlotte Casiraghi

She is wearing: Close-up, inside the magazine: Gucci, Balmain…

Photographer: Mario Testino

What we thought: I have to confess something, I am literally drooling over this cover. Some might say Emanuelle Alt’s choice was boring and might not like the close-up. I say it’s mind-blowing. We can forget about the royalty thing, she is just stunning, has an incredible sense of fashion and elegance, runs her own fashion magazine, one of the Kaiser’s favorite girls and Gucci’s pampered one. And she has Grace Kelly’s glamour. Does this girl deserve a Vogue cover? She certainly does. Was it a bold choice? For sure, but also a winner one! And she is close-up material, I bet even her pores are gorgeous.

Cover girl: Karolina Kurkova

She is wearing: Giorgio Armani

Photographers: Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin

What we thought: This is fun, and different. So different that Karolina can barely be recognized. You can call it wild, you can call it funky, but the result is divine. She was photographed by a duo that is so happening right now, the talented Inez & Vinoodh. Wearing an A/W 2011 t-shirt with the face of a younger Giorgio Armani, Karolina has got it going on!

Cover girl: Natasha Poly

She is wearing: Inside Prada, Céline, DKNY, D&G, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Balenciaga by Nicolas Ghesquière, Burberry Prorsum

Photographer: Hedi Slimane

What we think: The cover is very russian, very sexy, and very blonde. Also a bit boring. It’s nothing new, but Natasha’s beauty and sensuality make up for the lack of novelty. Inside we can see Poly channeling a mod chick, and rocking those prada boots like no one else.

Cover girls: Eva Herzigova, Claudia Schiffer, Helena Christensen

They are wearing: Dolce & Gabbana

Photographer: Tom Munro

What we thought: The styling was great and was done by Domenico and Stefano. I’m kind of growing to love those stars even if at first I didn’t like them that much. But allow me to be blunt, three women like Claudia, Eva and Helena (a personal favorite) should be able to make paper burn just by looking at it. This women do not need stars to sizzle, they already make it happen on their own. This cover does not do any justice to them, Helena doesn’t look as fab as she usually is, Claudia looks mean and Eva, well Eva takes the shot. I was expecting more from it.

VEREDICT: Royalty takes the cake, no cover can measure up to Charlotte’s!

I hope you liked it folks! Be sure to check back for some new posts. My oven is full!

Sweet kisses…

The Daily Fashion Bread: July 12, 2011

Hello my sweet readers! After a 5 day pause (I’m so sorry about that) I am back to bring you some freshly baked bread! And since the fashion industry doesn’t stop, even if I am on holiday, here are some highlights.

  • Armani underwear goes bad Hollywood bombshell, Megan Fox, has been replaced! The italian designer has chosen a bad girl as the new spokesperson for the underwear and jeans ad campaigns. With the distinguished Victoria Beckham as his first choice a few years ago and the world’s hottest woman, Miss Fox as his second one, Mr. Armani is spicing things up a bit this year. Rihanna, well known for her daring fashion, risquè outfits and rauchy performances, has already shot the ads that are set to come out this September. Brace yourselfs for some wild photos, sexy poses and a touch of porn. Thank God those ads will be black & white, I’m kind of sick of her channeling Bozo the Clown.

  • Kenzo and Antonio Marras parts ways The LVMH group announced today that the italian designer is to be replaced with retail duo, Humberto de Leon and Carol Lim. The pair behind the store Opening Ceremony were chosen in an attempt to refresh the brand. Opening Ceremony has had major success since the opening in 2002. Antonio Marrras was creative director of the brand for 8 years and has his own brand. Little do we know about his future, but the rumors are starting to say he could be the next head designer at Dior.
  • Mariacarla is on fire The 30 year old italian is better than ever and at the top of her modeling game. At that age, usually modeling careers are over or about to end. But for Mariacarla Boscono, this is not the case. It’s well-known that she is Riccardo Tisci’s muse. But for this season, she seems to be everyone’s favorite girl. We will be seeing her as one of the faces of Givenchy this fall, along with Naomi Campbell and Natalia Vodianova, as the star of Loewe’s glamorous and a bit raw campaign, and with Natasha Poly and Karen Elson for the always dramatic, Roberto Cavalli.
  • Swanepoel is definitely high fashion We know her for her Victoria’s Secret’s wings and some other catwalk now and then. But for this coming season, Candice is the face of the man of the hour (every hour that is), Tom Ford. Shot by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott, the South African beauty showcases a sexy, fierce, glamorous woman. The shots are brigh with color, glossy and with a touch of drama. For the gentleman, Tom has given us the gorgeous Jon Kortajarena, looking slick, sophisiticated and cool.
  • Balenciaga Fall/Winter Campaign Now this is a first! Nicolas Ghesquière has released a backstage video of his new ad campaign, featuring models Liya Kebede, Liisa Winkler, and Julia Nobis. It was shot by Steven Meisel, who has been very busy this year. Click here to see the video.
  • Hermione Granger’s last red carpet This is the last we’ll see of the Harry Potter character, certainly we will be seeing a lot more of the british beauty, Emma Watson. For the New York premiere of the film, Emma chose a daring and interesting Bottega Veneta gown. Not a safe choice, but definitely Miss Granger really pulled it off, as always.
Check back tomorrow for some Haute Couture
Sweet kisses…
