Sweet’n’Raw’s Sweet Dreams: THE DRESS

Hello, hello my sweet readers! It’s Wednesday and I’m counting the days to say: “Arrivederci Italia, ci vediamo dopo”. Don’t get me wrong, I love living in Italy (and Le Boyfriend will be joining me in Aztec soil two weeks after), every second of it. The truth is, after a while, I need my sister, sister quality time, I need to have one too many drinks with my brother, a couple of bottles of wine with the girls and above all, Mommy and Daddy. I’m just 10 days away from boarding that plane that’ll take me to Mexico Lindo and between deadlines, the blog and packing I’m starting to feel the pressure. But hey, bloggers should be like soldiers, they must never abandon their troops (ok, my lovely readers), so I am preparing lots of posts so you won’t go a day or two without news from me.

Well, after this long, long introduction, let’s talk about the thing that matters today. I’m back with the fourth post from our SWEET DREAMS series, one more in the next few days and then it’s a wrap for the pajama trend. It was Stella McCartney’s fault with her fab, shift dresses with lace inserts. Cami dresses, slip dresses and shift ones have been around for a while now. There’s a trick though, if it’s lacy and silky (almost like a nightgown) use it as a sundress, you really want to avoid the stiletto and heavy makeup combo (the bordello look is so 1500’s) . If it’s a pretty, pajama print shift, you can definitely style it more for a night out or also for day. Here’s a vast selection you can find online.

PAJAMA DRESS SELECTION

MIDDLE: ALC / Stella McCartney / Topshop / Elizabeth & James

BOTTOM: Topshop / Edun / River Island / Miss Selfridge

PAJAMA DRESS LOOK

I wanted to show you how Sweet’n’Raw does boho. My style is definitely more ladylike, that’s why I rarely do the bohemian thing. Anyway, to make it my own, I just throw in some pastels and lace. What do you think?

Sweet’n’Raw’s Sweet Dreams: THE PANTS

Good Monday, my sweet readers! Summer is finally here and my body is starting to ache, longing for the beach. Fortunately for me, my beloved Mexico is just two weeks away and my Acapulco Bay feels closer than ever (goodbye Casper skin). We are halfway through with our Sweet Dreams series and today’s the trousers turn. Pajama-like pants are comfy, easy to wear and laid-back. When it comes to them, frumpy is pure myth. There are many, many ways to play with this garment, you can dress it up with a silky top (slightly tucked in) and a pair of heeled sandals. You can keep it cool with a simple tank and a those pretty, pretty embellished sandals you just bought from Zara. You can take them to work with a blazer or a printed button-down or even for a couple of drinks when in a beachy destination: add a sparkly top and a fancy clutch. Are you ready to try this out? Let’s start with a selection available online.

PAJAMA PANTS SELECTION

CREAMY: Mango / Malene Birger / Topshop / Topshop

GRAPHIC: DVF / Mango / J. Crew / Mango

FLORAL: Clements Ribeiro / Maliparmi / Dries Van Noten / Suno

PAJAMA PANTS LOOK

Two simple, neutral garments to give away a pajama vibe. I dressed them up with a detailed bag and lots of arm candy to make it more interesting. I chose the barely there sandals to draw all the attention to the arms and the top.

Sweet’n’Raw’s Sweet Dreams: THE SHORTS

Good morning my sweet readers! Wednesday, Wednesday… Only two days left for the weekend to begin. Today I’m bringing you the third post from our Pajama trend series (clicke HERE and HERE if you haven’t read the first two). This trend may seem comfy and casual at first sight, but like all things fashion, we can dress it up and down anyway we want. Pajama shorts are the perfect season companions, you just have to look for a silky or chiffon pair. The ones with drawstrings work well, just look for soft structured ones. Here’s a selection you can find online. Whether you are a flower girl, a minimal one or a graphic print junkie, there’s a perfect pair for you out there.

PAJAMA SHORTS SELECTION

TOP: Thakoon Addition / Mango / Topshop

MIDDLE: D&G / Mango / River Island

BOTTOM: Emma Cook / Paul & Joe / CALYPSO St. Barth

PAJAMA SHORTS LOOK

A little cute goes the long way with this one. This Thakoon Addition shorts are perfect for Summer, light, cheery and pretty. To dress them up a bit more, I added a blouse with a bow detail and some fabulous pumps to elongate the legs. If you want to go flat, chose a pair of Oxfords to add some contrast. For the bag, a girl can only dream about vintage $4,000 Chanel, right? But any beige, quilted shoulder bag will do!

Sweet’n’Raw’s Sweet Dreams: THE TOP

Another weekend has gone by and I’m just three weeks away form my beloved, Mexican soil. In my last post, I told you about the our new trend series, it’s all about the pajama. This season, the designers’ take on this trend is nothing like the lady (ok, me) that used to go to the supermarket, praying not to run into anyone, in a pair of flannel Mafalda pants, a sweatshirt bigger than a Circus tent and a some knitted booties with an ethnic print. How many of you are gasping right now? Pajama street wear can be sophisticated and posh, it can also be casual and chic. Proof of that are the hundreds of Pajama-inspired garments that I have seen in almost every retail store. From pants and shorts to the cutest, little jackets, I have decided to start this series with the sleeveless top. First of all, let’s see what you can find online.

PAJAMA TOP SELECTION

TOP: J. Crew / TIBI / Topshop

MIDDLE: The Row / Elizabeth & James / River Island

BOTTOM: Mango / DAY Birger et Mikkelsen / Mango

PAJAMA TOP LOOK

Stripes and floral print are a combo that definitely works for me. I wanted to stick with soft colors and add some navy for an unexpected twist. The accessories contrast with the feminine look. What do you think? Are you gonna try it out?

Now you know it, pajamas are not always frumpy. Now I’m off to prepare some chips and beer, it’s EURO 2012 time. Let Italy beat the crap out of Spain (after all, I am Milanese by choice).

Sweet’n’happy Sunday!

Sweet kisses…

Sweet’n’Raw’s SWEET DREAMS: The Pajama Series

Maybe you were among the lucky few that actually had a regular and sunny Spring. Maybe, like me and many others, you had a bipolar and angry Spring, accompanied by  severe mood (ok, temperature) swings and rain, lots of it. Thankfully for both, Summer is just around the corner. The heat is raising, skin is slowly roasting (with sunscreen, of course), legs are on display and yes, finally, it’s too hot for a sweater or jacket. Sweet’n’Raw’s new trend series is all bout that, not only did we see a lot of this one on the S/S 2012 runways, but it’s also, because of the fabrics, really fresh and really Summery. So if you, like me, constantly dreamed about wearing those PJs out on the streets (ok, I confess, I have worn them outside the comfort of my home. Every time I fall victim of a hangover and my body begs me to feed him beer and carbs, I tend to transform myself in Sophie the PJ/supermarket Hobo), this is the season to do so! Sweet’n’Raw will devote a total of 4 posts to this fabulous trend! But first, let’s see the designers’ take on it!

TOP: Stella McCartney / Jil Sander / JW Anderson / Jonathan Saunders

BOTTOM: Clements Ribeiro / Hermes / Paul Smith / The Row

PAJAMA SELECTION

  2. Dress, MANGO
  3. Slippers, OSCAR DE LA RENTA

I would love to stay and chat, but I have a date with my curling iron. Stay tuned for more pajama-rama!

Sweet kisses…
