NAIL FILES: Pretty in Pink

lady in pink

Good evening, my sweet readers! I’m catching up as fast as I can with my posts and my articles and today, after more than a month without them, the Nail Files are back. Some people say Emerald is the color of the season (ok, Pantone said it), but I dare to disagree. This season, it’s all about pink. It doesn’t matter if you go for hot pink, baby or salmon, the important thing is taking advantage of the prettiest color from the bunch. That’s why I made a selection of the best shades of pink polish you can find right now. Keep those nails girly and pretty, keep ‘em pink!

Sweet n’raw’s X’mas Gift Guide: QUEEN OF DIAMONDS

queen of diamonds

It’s almost Friday and as days go by, X’mas is getting closer and closer. Office parties, dinners with friends, family get-togethers are filling up our calendars and gifts to buy are seriously piling up. We still have 10 days to finish shopping and wrapping our presents. And since Christmas is not the time to browse and look around (more like pushing and elbowing fellow shoppers in search of the perfect item), it’s better to go shopping knowing exactly what to get and where to get it. This is the fourth part of Sweet n’Raw’s X’mas Shopping Guide and one that will help you a lot on your gift quest.

There’s a princess inside every girl and most of us have a weakness for all things glittery. That is why today I’m giving you, wait for it… the Queen of Diamonds. So if you have a friend that’s lusting over those pretty, shiny  phone cases… If you have a friend that owns more sequin jumpers than she does shoes… If you know someone who is a sucker for all things embellished and embroidered… If powdery shades and nude are your colleague’s favorite… If a chignon and a delicate skater dress make up for the perfect holiday party outfit, this is the list you are gonna need to check out.

Sweet n’raw’s X’mas Shopping Guide: THE COUNTRY KID

country kid cover

Happy Wednesday, my sweet readers! I’m back with the third part of our Christmas Gift Guide. So far, I’ve given you ideas for the flower lover and for the french obsessed. Today it’s all about the country girl. No, you don’t have to be a Miranda Lambert to love this style. No, you don’t have to wear cowboy boots and bustier to school. No, you don’t have to watch Bonanza reruns (leave that to me) while lusting after “Little Joe” Cartwright (I’ve always been an odd kid, I liked Adam better). The country gal is much more than that. So if you have a friend who enjoys weekends in the country, wrapped in a heavy-knit shawl… If you have a sister who has more fringed boots than a Minnetonka storage facility… If your colleague enjoys musky scents, fireplaces, hot cups of tea and broderie anglaise, you’ve come to the right place. So if you have to buy a gift for a very stylish country beauty, this is the list your are going to want to read!

SWEET TROUBLE: Pink gets me high as a kite…

When it comes to pink nail polish, I admit it, I am a compulsive shopper. But I am not the cheese who stands alone in this one, I know that for sure (my sister is to nail polish, what Berlusconi is to Viagra).

How many times have you had to explain le boyfriend that the pink Dior is creamier than the Chanel one (even though they look almost the same) and that’s why you need them both.

How many times have you stood before the impressive nail polish line-up at drugstore aisle, trying to decide between barbie pink, candy pink or mauve. After a 30 minute deliberation (the security guard walking around you, eyeing you suspiciously, as a potential shoplifter means you’ve been in there for too long) you decide to take them all along with that neon pink that just caught your eye (even though you promised you would only buy one).

You feel the need to gift yourself Tom Ford’s Private Blend Nail Lacquer set this Christmas (click HERE if you wish to see it, at the risk of feeling greedier than Gollum). You are willing to pay 400 pounds for the box, only if the sales lady agrees to substitute the 16 shades inside with 16 bottles of Indian Pink.

You get your Essie parcel at home, only to discover you bought 15 shades of pink and one coral.

Your Instagram account could easily be mistaken for an OPI catalogue (the pinks and roses section, of course).

Does pink get you high as a kite? Is pink your favorite crayon? Yes, I’m kinda quoting Aerosmith.

If the answer’s yes, I rest my case.

A girl can never have too many bottles of pink nail polish.

Sweet kisses…

SUMMER GETAWAYS 2012: The City Blonde (daywear)

Good morning, my sweet readers! Getting ready for the weekend to begin? Sure hope so! Since we are in the middle of Summer and just in time to escape to a sunny destination, the Summer Getaways series might be just what you need. Remember, we are in the middle of our Daywear round (I already gave you beachwear and evening is coming right after this) and this time it’s the City Blonde’s turn. If you want to find more about Anita, click HERE and HERE. So if you, like this city lover, are planning to spend what’s left of your Summer on a New York roof top pool, shopping on 5th, brunching on Sundays or sightseeing around London, you’ll need the perfect ensemble for it. Here’s what I came up with:

  • Silk, button-down shirts are great Summer-in-the-city. A white one is a must-have and a must-pack.
  • Smart shorts (like this leopard ones) are just the thing to pair up with the shirts. You’ll look summery but always clean and dressed up.
  • Large leather handbags make the correct statement in an asphalt jungle. Phillip Lim’s Pashli is the best investment one can make.
  • Wedges will make your legs longer and they are also easier to walk with.
  • Always pack a pair of flats inside the tote, wishing you’d brought them with you is the worst feeling on Earth.
  • Burgundy nails are the perfect match for leopard and tan

WHAT ANITA IS WEARING

For all the details on today’s look, go to FASHIOLISTA

Just one more Daywear post and we are done! What do you think of today’s look. Are you a City Blonde gal? If you are more of a Free Spirit, check back tomorrow!

Sweet kisses…

NAIL FILES: Sweet’n'Raw’s Olympic Fingers

As much as I hate the classic “I’m sorry I haven’t posted in a while, but I’ve been really busy” lines, this time I’m gonna give you the “I’m sorry I haven’t posted in a while, but I was in NYC and the wonderful W Hotel charges $20 plus tax for 24 hours of Wi-fi”. Anyway, I’m back and with a lot of posts lined up (that I prepared previously) and almost ready to be published. My NYC trip is something I’m gonna be saving for later, but since nowadays all we talk about is the 2012 London Olympic games, I just had to do this! It’s been a while since the last Nail Files series and what better inspiration than this huge sports event. NAIL FILES: Happy Hour!

Hello, hello my sweet readers! It’s Thursday, which means that most of the week has gone by and Friday is just one day away. For you today, it’s that time of the month, NAIL FILES TIME! And since we are feeling a little bit thirsty here (sunny, warm days call for cute and icy cocktails), I was completely inspired by booze. On Spring or Summer, sipping drinks with friends on a terrace is my all-time favorite activity. I’m definitely a Mojito kind of gal, but since calorie counting is my curse, I usually settle for Vodka Soda (I must confess I had my Dry Martini phase… It ended one night, after four of those babies, when I spilled my fifth all over my cleavage thinking I was actually drinking it). Anyway, no more embarassing stories for now.  Here is my monthly nail polish selection, cocktail edition! At the end you can find my Top Coat selection, all four of them are highly recommended.

CREAMY BRANDY ALEXANDER

  1. Perfection, Dolce & Gabbana
  2. Sand Tropez, Essie
  3. Beige, Chanel Le Vernis
  4. Jolis Matins, Lancome Vernis in Love

SWEET APPLETINI

  2. Is it payday yet?, Sephora by OPI
  3. Green Almond, Lancome
  4. Apple and Custard, Ciaté

SASSY COSMOPOLITAN

  2. Nude Attitude, Estee Lauder
  3. Pink Boa, Dior Vernis
  4. P.Y.T, Deborah Lippmann

SPICY BLOODY MARY

  1. Geranium, Essie
  2. Kid Orange, MAC
  3. Whack, Illamasqua
  4. Red Royalty, Dior Vernis

BUBBLY BELLINI

  • Gold Haze, Tom Ford
  • Glitzerland, OPI
  • Nefertiti, Deborah Lippmann
  • Adelita, NARS

CUBA LIBRE

  1. Bitter Bitch, Tom Ford
  2. Decadent Dish, Essie
  3. Chocolate, Dolce & Gabbana
  4. Molten Lava, Estee Lauder

DRY MARTINI… SHAKEN, NOT STIRRED

  1. Good to go, Essie
  2. Top Coat, Rescue Beauty Lounge
  3. Top Coat, Dior Vernis
  4. Top Coat, Seche a Vite

What’s your favorite Happy Hour drink? And your favorite cocktail inspired nail polish shade?

Sweet kisses…

Pretty Pastel Pants: POWDER PINK

It’s Saturday and Easter’s coming up tomorrow, got your egg basket already? And since Easter is all about powdery and sugary colors, why not add some pink pants into the mix. The second post from our PPP series is here and rocking it wild style. If you have not got your pair of pink skinnies yet, here’s a selection you can find online. Whether is cropped, cuffed, distressed or smart, run out the door and get your own.

POWDER PINK SELECTION

1. River Island / 2. Current/Elliot / 3. Elizabeth & James

4. Current/Elliot / 5. Vanessa Bruno / 6. MiH Jeans

POWDER PINK LOOK

Mixing in leopard with pink has been an obsession of mine for so long. To make the whole ensemble a bit more interesting, I splashed a little bit of color on it. Poppy red, powder pink, plum and tan make a great color combo.

CLOTHES

ACCESSORIES

BEAUTY

There you go! Mixing animal prints with pastels is a bold move, but when done right, it’s bound to be a total hit. Try it out and let me know how it went.

Sweet kisses…
